BCTA Sound Insulation Training
December 5, 2022 – December 7, 2022
Barry Cope, Managing Director of the Building Compliance Testers Association (BCTA), presents this course titled Sound insulation Testing Training. It runs over three days, with the aim of training delegates to carry out and report on sound insulation testing on partition walls and floors. There will be an optional exam on the 3rd or 4th day.
You will learn how to:
- Combine, average, and subtract decibel values
- Set up and calibrate sound source and measuring equipment to perform simple routine equipment checks
- Select suitable measurement numbers, locations, and durations
- Carry out airborne and impact sound insulation levels test in accordance with various ISO standards
- Measure octave and band sound pressure levels
- Use ISO 140-14 for non-standard testing

BECx as Risk Management
January 9-13, 2023
This course is intended for anyone who participates in designing or constructing the exterior building envelope. This includes Building Officials, Facility and Plant Managers, Architects and Engineers, Program Managers, Superintendents, Trade Foremen and Testing Organizations.
The five modules will cover the following:
- BECx in Construction
- Vertical Envelope Assemblies
- Horizontal Envelope Assemblies
- Door and Window Openings
- Wind Loads
Attendees who successfully complete the five modules will earn the designation of Building Envelope Risk Manager (BERM)
