The Fairmont Austin Hotel is located in downtown Austin adjacent to the Austin Convention Center. This new 47-story, 1.4-million-square-foot hotel will feature panoramic views of Lady Bird Lake and the surrounding area. With 1,000 four-star rooms, including several luxury suites, the hotel offers first-class amenities such as ballrooms, two pools and a high-end spa. Four below-grade levels will accommodate parking, administrative offices and service areas. Sustainable strategies such as building orientation, high-performance exterior skin with shading devices, rainwater and greywater harvesting and integrated guest room occupancy monitoring systems will allow the project to achieve LEED® Gold certification.
Z6 Commissioning performed high voltage electronic leak detection (ELD) testing on the Fairmont Austin Hotel to determine the most vulnerable areas of the roof system by identifying pinhole leaks and breaches for the most efficient diagnosis. This process of detection and isolation, damaged areas, once identified, can be repaired, and then retested, immediately. ELD and whole building air infiltration testing has become the most cost effective and useful means of roof leak detection effective for 99% of commercial waterproofing systems.
