Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex and Dell Computer Science Hall

education-k-12

The Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex and Dell Computer Science Hall bring together all programs, faculty and students of the Computer Science Department for the first time in the department’s history. The complex facility is comprised of two buildings—Dell Computer Science Hall and a wing for research to the south—connected by an atrium. Their design emphasizes modern uses of materials found in UT-Austin’s early buildings, which largely adhere to a Spanish Mediterranean style. The 230,000-square-foot facility is comprised of two rectangular buildings joined by a five-level atrium connecting the two structures.

Like many other construction projects at University of Texas, the complex has been designed to LEED Silver standards. Green features include extensive day lighting, sustainable materials and more to create a highly energy-efficient structure.
